The previous week, Nick, a friend of mine, talked to me about the case of Luka a 14 year kid from Greece that suffers from Leukemia. At first I felt sad for him but after talking on MSN with him (after the strong advice of Nick) I began to admire the courage, the spirit and the intelligence of this young boy. Coming from a really poor familly of 5 children, he was completely aware of the seriousness of his problem and most of all the impact that his sickness has to his family phycological and financial. In one of our last chats (after a period of chemiotherapy that made him really weak of even getting up from bed) he told me, in a really emotional state, that he prefers to die so the burden on his familly will be lifted. The greatest of his soul and love to his family was revealled when he stated that "My life cannot jeperdise the life of my sisters and brothers. The saving of one's life cannot be the reason of lifetime misery and suffering of the others"
His faith to God fills him with hope, but not be mistaken his sickness is really serious and he has very little time left.
His parents informed me that a university hospital in France works on an experimental new treatment that might give him a cure althought the odds are very low. The problem is that the cure costs 15,000E and although its not a huge amount of money, for the financial status of the familly is impossible to gather. They only managed to find the money to leave in France (mother, father etc.) for the 1 month that the treatment is needed. I was able to give them 1,500E from my savings but they lack 13,500E more. I have decided to use my blog to gather these money for Luka. All the advertising income will go to this purpose, but again it won't be enough if you don't help us. ANY AMOUNT will be mostly appreciated since the amount required is not so big. Please help us not only to save Luka but all the children that will benefit from the treatmet done on him.
